Soél: “Don't panic if what you want with your life has not happened in the early twenties”

Soél is living proof that all roads lead to Rome - but that it may very well require several detours before you reach the end goal. On August 28, 2020, her third single "Not Enough" will be released.

In a commercial and edgy universe we find Soél; a brand new Danish artist who creates pop music with a huge international potential. The catchy tunes are backed by playful productions, which create a catchy and angular pop universe that, with its contrasts, demands the listener’s attention.

Soél’s songs are touching, intelligent and danceable and in the forefront is the talented vocalist Tine Soelberg, who, with her captivating melodies, always keeps the audience spellbound. Music has always been an important part of her life, but it took a long time before she found her way as an artist and began publishing her music:

“It has been insanely difficult for me to publish my first song and to stand by a specific sound. I'm one big pop explosion, but somehow I haven't really felt that it was acceptable to be so into straight-up pop. So for many years I've been trying to suppress it, but it just didn't feel right. "

According to Soél, she needed time and space to search and experiment in order to find her own way. The twenties therefore offered a wide range of different music projects as well as a Master of Science in Information Technology, and when she was offered to travel around the world as a choir singer for Aqua, there was suddenly less time for her own music.

“I’ve gotten a serious case of FOMO every time I've seen my music colleagues release their music over the years. Of course I would like to have launched this project when I was 22, but on the other hand I would also be sad if I had missed all the experiences and learnings I have had during my twenties. "

As a 31-year-old, she therefore debuted with the single "Never mind" and then released "Exhale" earlier this year. Both tracks were picked up by Spotify's curated list: New Music Friday in both Denmark, Iceland and Finland and are still picked up by both curated lists and independent playlists such as Indie Mono's: 'Clean Pop Hits 2020'.

It's okay not to have a plan

For Soél, it is important to be honest and to communicate with people on eye level. Her text universe is unpretentious, just like herself, symbolizing a desire that everything should not be planned and perfect all the time. Mistakes are the key to development, and development is driving momentum.

"You mustn’t panic if what you want with your life has not happened when you are in your early twenties. I don’t believe that I will ever think that I 100 percent am where I want to be. No matter where I am, I will always feel that I need to go other places as well.”

Thus, the project "Soél" will never stop. Although Tine has found her form and embraced her guilty pleasure - pop music - she has no idea where it will end. And that’s actually fine, in her opinion:

“I don't know where I will end up with this project. I don't know if I'm going to play at a lot of festivals next year or whether it might take longer. But that motivates me, and makes me wanna work for it.”
